FAQs

Are they sharp enough for denim and leather?
Yes. Cuts a single layer of 14oz denim or veg-tan leather cleanly, and handles stacked cotton or wool without skipping.

Will the black coating wear off?
No — it's a hot oxide treatment bonded into the steel, not paint. A polished line will appear along the cutting edge after a few weeks of use, which is normal and shows the edge is being honed by the work.

How do I sharpen them?
Any professional scissor sharpener can re-grind them (£8–£12 in the UK). Do not use a kitchen-knife steel or sandpaper — the blade must be re-ground at the correct factory angle.

What's the difference between the PIN-10 and the BRT-10?
Same forged-steel body. PIN-10 has a black-coated blade and black handle for a stealth professional look; BRT-10 is bright red with a slightly sharper notching tip. Most studios buy one of each.
